Damian Priest apparently has no one to blame but himself for speaking tag title challengers into existence.

During the Judgment Day’s opening promo, Priest ranted against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, then mentioned that he knew they were gunning for his and Finn Balor’s Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.

Oh really? Cody and Jey? A duo who have never teamed together before in a straight tag match and haven’t publicly stated their desire to become tag team champions are coming for the tag titles?

As of last week, wasn’t it Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn who were desperately trying to regain their tag titles? They lost that match due to a hefty amount of chicanery, but wouldn’t they have more of a claim to a title match rather than the guys who haven’t shared the ring since Uso joined Raw?

Maybe that’s all a bit of a reach, and the match will most likely be electric on the night. But if you want fans to care about a tag team division (WWE then throws Alpha Academy versus Imperium on right after this segment), then handing out a title match to a totally new tandem isn’t the best choice. It feels like they skipped a step in the story, like they needed another week to tell this tale.
