6 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Dec 16)

Ups...

6.Cody & Angelico Keep It Slick

Cody Rhodes
AEW

Commentary putting Angelico's smooth llave skills over at the start of this match informed Cody Rhodes' early struggles with the TH2 man. Angelico continually escaped Rhodes' traditional wrestling holds, drawing from tricks learned under the great Negro Navarro's learning tree, crafting a slick, grapple-heavy bout that more than did its job on the first hour.

Business picked up when Angelico jacked Cody's need into the canvas, countering a Disaster Kick. An anguished period stuck in the Navarro Death Roll followed this before 'The Prince of Pro Wrestling' finally got his hands on the bottom rope. Rhodes struggled on, giving his opponent plenty, before coming off the top with a springboard Cody Cutter following a countered Cross Rhodes. 1, 2, 3.

A good workout for both men, and another win for the most sport-like competitor in the company. Good to see somebody not named Randy Orton finishing a bout with a cutter as well.
