6 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jul 29)

5. Papers, Please

Brodie Lee Stu Grayson
AEW

There wasn't much to the Dark Order angle that followed Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. Evil Uno and Stu Grayson.

Mr. Brodie Lee took his furious Being the Elite character to television, shouting his minions down, launching papers in Uno's face, and grabbing Grayson by the throat. A short promo saw him infuriated by Hangman for laughing at what was going down before The Young Bucks descended from the bleachers. Lee's group, not the Elite, had the strength in numbers, so goobers surrounded the ring, swarmed the faces, and beat them down until FTR came out for the save, clocking Brodie with a beer cooler then forcing the Order to the ramp.

A semi-effective bridge to next week's mega-tag, sure, but an otherwise uninspired set piece. It would have come off a lot stronger had Lee's recent character development gone down on Dynamite, not BTE. Such is the issue with telling stories across multiple platforms: not everyone is going to watch everything. AEW needs to do a better job of filling in the gaps.
