6 Ups & 6 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (May 10)
2. Five Stars
He rejoined the roster as a full-time performer last week after several years away and now Rob Van Dam had his first match back as he took on Ethan Page, who had tag partner Josh Alexander by his side. Moose was nowhere to be seen here though, which was a bit odd given the three have seemingly forged an alliance in recent times.
For what it was, the bout was actually quite enjoyable. Josh provided a distraction or two at ringside throughout, but not to the extent it detracted from the action, which meant Ethan almost picked up the victory following a huge bicycle kick. When push came to shove, a Rolling Thunder and a Five Star Frog Splash ended RVD's comeback match on a high.
At this stage, your dear writer would usually write something about how All Ego should've won since he's the younger name. Not here though. It was Van Dam's first match back, plus Page didn't really lose anything with the loss as he looked strong for the bulk of it. A win-win situation.
