6 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 3)

Downs…

7. Burning Through Feud/Turn

AJ Styles Omos

The eventual breakup of AJ Styles and Omos should have taken place over the course of several weeks, with Omos continuing to soak up as much experience as possible before the split occurred.

Instead, it was rushed during the last few weeks, and a planned match last week was apparently scrubbed after what was described as a disappointing match was held as a house show. Monday night, however, we got our AJ/Omos match, and it was little more than an extended squash.

Omos never was knocked down, not even to a knee, and he manhandled Styles, swatting a Phenomenal Forearm attempt before hitting a press slam and tree slam for the pin.

Note that this isn’t a “down” because Omos won or that WWE is going all-in on the colossal superstar. This just felt rushed in almost all facets, and then they put AJ down rapidly rather than building to this as a big deal. So what you get instead is something less than it could have been and nowhere for Omos to go just yet.
