6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (12 June - Review)

6. A Marginal Upgrade

Cody Rhodes The Miz

It’s pretty universally accepted that Cody Rhodes’ worst match upon returning to WWE last year was his Raw match against the Miz, a disaster that droned on too long and never clicked.

Fast-forward to Monday night, and we got a do-over that wasn’t exactly a huge upgrade. They steered away from chain wrestling and really kept it to both men hitting each other with some high-impact moves, Cody working Miz’s leg over a bit, and then a series of counters before Rhodes put Miz away.

It still went on too long and was too 50/50 for what it should have been, and you could almost see Cody slowing things down and working Miz’s pace rather than the A-Lister elevating his game. And that’s a shame, because Miz is capable of putting on a good match with the right dance partner, but this wasn’t it.

Call it a very slight upgrade from last year, but that’s not saying much.
