6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (May 9)

1. DQs Abound In Matches With Title Implications

Who booked this crap?

This is a serious question. Someone thought it was a good idea to take two matches with title implications and have them end in almost identical fashion. And in both cases, they could have booked things differently pretty easily to arrive at the same point.

First up, Cody Rhodes’ first attempt to capture gold in his WWE return was thwarted when Seth Rollins interfered to cause a DQ in his match for the United States Championship. Rhodes was on the cusp of defeating Theory when Rollins attacked, presumably setting up a third match between the two.

Later, it was Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch, who interfered in a Raw Women’s Championship contender’s match between Becky Lynch and Asuka, as she laid out both women in an abbreviated main event that also was a first time ever matchup.

Either one of these on their own would have been annoying, but both? On the same show? Less than an hour apart? Bruh…

Just horribly unimaginative, repetitive, lazy booking. The worst part is the matches we’ll get out of these angles will probably be great, and fans will just overlook this horrid storytelling.
