6 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2016

8. Cheer Me, Please

It€™s understandable that you€™d want to build sympathy for your babyface challenger when facing a heel champion. But you can go overboard with it, almost pinning a sign on the hero(ine) begging for fans to cheer.

That€™s kind of what we got Sunday night with Brie Bella in her Divas Championship match against Charlotte. We all knew the backstory: Brie€™s sister Nikki went down with a neck injury shortly after losing her Divas title last fall and will be out for the foreseeable future. Earlier this month, Brie€™s husband Daniel Bryan was forced to retire from in-ring competition, making his announcement in a heart-wrenching ceremony.

But Sunday, Brie donned Bryan€™s kickpads as a tribute to him. But it wasn€™t just any old kickpads €“ it was the same pair he wore when he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX. Bella also hit several signature moves of her sister and husband, including Daniel€™s kicks and the Yes Lock.

Some are going to say this item is overly critical, that Brie was simply paying homage to her sister and husband. But it really felt like it was a way to get sympathy on someone who the fans otherwise would have been silent for.
