Go back and take a close look at the WWE World Cup bracket. Now try to envision a finals between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz for the title of “Best in the World.”

Yeah.

Yes, wrestling is predetermined, and every bit of chastising that’s coming this writer’s way (and speaking as someone who’s a fan of both men), but come on. This is the final matchup for a tournament with Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle in it? Two of the least-decorated superstars in the grouping (Bobby Lashley probably has the fewest professional wrestling accolades – at least those recognized by WWE).

It just screamed “Micard!” at you as soon as Dolph won. Both guys are entertaining and good wrestlers, but it makes the “Best in the World” moniker a pretty big joke.

Oh wait, there was a bigger joke to come, and it made this even more of a midcard final.
