6 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Feb 14)

1. Wyatt Family Values

Everybody knows how the Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton story ends. Sooner or later, The Viper is going to stick his fangs in the WWE Champion's throat, and his destruction of the Wyatt Family shall be complete. This has been his plan since the moment he first aligned with Bray, and after forcing Luke Harper's exile from the group, there's nothing left to do but take-out the leader.

Despite the telegraphed outcome, WWE are doing a great job of building tension and keeping the story alive. Orton and Wyatt engaged in a brief staredown at Elimination Chamber, and with their WrestleMania 33 bout seemingly booked, they looked set to explode last night.

That didn't happen, though. Orton refused to face Bray at Mania despite winning this year's Royal Rumble, and pledged his "undying allegiance" to a man he calls "master." The Viper bent the knee before the WWE Champion, and the show closed with an apparent united front from the duo.

By escalating the tension on a weekly basis, WWE are building to an infinitely more satisfying release. Add Harper to the equation as a wildcard, and this becomes one of the strongest stories that WWE have told in the past few years. A big number one contender's battle royal has already been booked for next week, and we can all but guarantee there'll be a further twist in the tale.
