6 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (May 18)
7. A Way Out
The main event of NXT's show pitted Nia Jax against Bayley, and to be quite honest, it was the best match on the show in months. Unfortunately, the ending left something to be desired, and it ended up cheapening the bout just a little bit.
I'll get into it more later, but the match saw Jax decimate Bayley until the former Women's Champion made her comeback. Jax attempted a suplex and Bayley floated over, but when she landed on her feet, her left leg gave out. The referee tried to stop the action to check on Bayley, but Jax attacked her, focused on the leg, then won with a legdrop.
The entire story of the match was that Jax had grown as a wrestler since Bayley beat her at TakeOver: London, and that she was having a fairly easy time womanhandling her foe. Why, then, did the company need to essentially have Bayley lose off a fluke injury? Why did she need that out?
It's clear that the company wants to protect Bayley, who lost at TakeOver: Dallas, but a clean defeat at the hands of Jax wouldn't have hurt her at all. It could have helped Jax, though.
