Downs...

2. Uninspired Victory

When you’re an undersized competitor, you have to look for ways to compensate and look like a threat in your matches. Rey Mysterio made a career of being vastly smaller than most of his opponents, but he dazzled fans and rallied them to his side.

HoHo Lun is about the same size as Mysterio was early in his career (around 150-160 pounds), but he seemed to lack a convincing presence in the ring. By comparison, Ariya Daivari played a perfect villain, but Lun came across almost as a goof at times. Maybe that’s not a fair statement from one match with no build-up of Lun’s character, but of the four winners, he was the least inspiring of the bunch.

Of course, Lun will get another chance to connect in a second-round match against either Noam Dar or Gurv Sihra. For now, call this a mild negative on an otherwise fine show.
