6 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's NXT (June 3)
2. Burn After Reed-ing
Imagine devising an entire segment purely for the purpose of putting two separate heels over ahead of their PPV matches (sorry, what, Grimes got a win against Balor and still has nothing on Sunday?!) and all it actually does is just make you feel sorry for "other guy" caught in the middle.
Bronson Reed's really entertaining to watch - he's genuinely one of the more unique talents on the show - but putting him with Grimes here was probably the most predictable thing NXT have done in a while. Not a single person watching was expecting anything other than Grimes to take a licking, but somehow hit the Cave In and "steal the win". Lo and behold, that's what we got.
One x-factor in at all though was Karrion Kross emerging (in full ring gear) to stick Reed after the bell and snarl "SSSSSHEMPER!!!!" down the camera. Very easily something that could have been done backstage without having to kick dirt in the face of an already beaten man. Overall this wasn't long enough to be entertaining, and not impactful enough to be useful.
