6 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's NXT (June 3)
6. Brawl For All
We open with Mia Yim vs Mirror Universe Candice LeRae here and a match that, despite some sloppy moments, provided a really exciting watch. You're conditioned in wrestling to know when you're seeing a match, or a match that's setting up a match, but as the latter goes this was a pretty spectacular effort.
The best guess has been, for weeks now, a mixed tag at In Your House leading to an eventual North American Championship contest somewhere down the line. If that's been your thinking then award yourself a good few points for getting the structure right, with a hysterical mess of an opening your consolation for botching the timeframe.
A double count-out led to a brawl from the also-rans of the women's division, before Lee and Gargano joined in to separate their respective lady friends from any untoward peril / getting potatoed by Raquel González. Regal gets on the blower, orders a mixed-tag to take place immediately, and our opening contest ends by setting up an impressively well built next chapter in this feud. Handshakes all around.
Amazing what happens when you don't massively overuse big brawls to further your feuds, isn't it?
