6 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 24)

1. Hayes Officially Breaks Out

It was all leading to this; two contrasting newcomers colliding in the middle of the squared-circle for the honour of being able to challenge for an NXT title of their choosing.

Coming into the latest Breakout Tournament, the average Joe would've likely put their money on both of these hot properties making it to the final stage of the competition, so it wasn't much of a surprise to see Carmelo Hayes staring down Odyssey Jones last night. But the pair still had to ensure their names were the ones on fan's lips when all was said and done, and thankfully a high-octane back-and-forth affair all but guaranteed that to be the case.

Hayes brilliantly worked away at Jones, grinding down the bigger man and pummelling him to the point of surely breaking. But the colossal star simply would not stay down, firing back with one of the most brutal shoulderbreakers you'll see this year. There could be only one, though, and after taking a sickening splash from the bigger performer, Hayes was able to take advantage of a cocky pinning attempt by rolling up his rival in a crucifix for the win.

Whilst Hayes wasn't quick to divulge exactly which belt he'd be fighting for in the future - surely, it only makes sense to go for the biggest prize, right? - he was able to celebrate a crowning achievement in style. The future is bright for both of these men, and hopefully this isn't the last time they meet in an NXT ring.
