6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 29)

1. Graves The Informant?

Once in a while, WWE does something different and out-of-the-box, and sometimes, it works.

Monday night, the camera cut to the announcers at the desk chatting, but Corey Graves was too busy reading his phone to pay attention. He suddenly got up from his seat and left the stage without saying a word. When Raw returned from commercial, he was showing a message to GM Kurt Angle that read in part that he was “a disgrace and embarrassment” to WWE who had “besmirched” his reputation as an Olympic gold medalist.

Graves merely told Angle that people tell him things, and he wanted to alert the GM because he liked him and wanted to help. Angle even noted that this could “ruin” him. But this left several questions: Who sent the text? What was the item that could ruin Angle? How did Graves get a hold of the information?

When you can raise questions like this that raise intrigue without being over-the-top, then you’re doing something right.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
