6 Ups And 5 Downs From NXT TakeOver: Chicago

2. Captain Obvious On Commentary

WWE loves their three-man booths these days, even if it means giving dead weight like Percy Watson a live microphone.

Watson was a middling prospect in FCW/NXT for a few years before being released in 2013. He didn’t do much of note on the independent circuit before returning to NXT as a commentator late last year. And he hasn’t really added much of note in that role either.

During TakeOver Saturday night, Watson contributed observations such as noting that Roderick Strong was moving slowly because he was hurt and that Nikki Cross is “absolutely whacko.” You seriously could have turned his mic off entirely (and he went silent for large stretches anyway) and you wouldn’t notice a loss.

Now, Watson could get better and become a good analyst (NXT is developmental for announcers as well as wrestlers), but he really added as much to TakeOver as static.
