After a really well-done video package on NXT television, Roderick Strong needed to cash in at TakeOver and deliver a performance that continued to rally fans around him – and he succeeded.

Roddy jumped out of the crowd to take out Sanity from the get-go, winning over the fans, and he continued to battle against the odds throughout the match. Strong persevered and pulled out a Strong Backbreaker for the win, becoming one of the first wrestlers to overcome the odds of Sanity (Tye Dillinger did it with the help of a steel cage).

The match wasn’t a classic, but it was a solid opener that continued the momentum built up by the videos, and hopefully it’s a sign that Roddy has a bright future ahead.
