6 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Elimination Chamber 2018
1. Rousey Gets Rowdy
Let’s give credit where it’s due: WWE delivered a solid “official” debut for Ronda Rousey, piquing interest in the newest superstar and her involvement at WrestleMania.
Rousey came down for a contract signing that featured Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kurt Angle. Ronda was all smiles and gushing about this opportunity, but she also praised Angle, as one Olympic medalist to another. That kind of foreshadowed what happened next.
As she was about to sign her contract (which guaranteed her a match at Mania), Rousey noticed Angle arguing with Triple H off to the side. She asked him what was happening, and he let it all out. Kurt told Ronda that Triple H and Stephanie schemed to get her back for how she embarrassed them at WrestleMania 31, when she flipped Helmsley and almost broke Steph’s arm.
Kurt said they said it was “three years in the making” to get her back, and that Steph called Ronda a “has-been” who she could take. Rousey confronted Stephanie, then blew the roof off the place by putting Triple H through a table with a spinebuster. Steph slapped Ronda, and then immediately ran for her life.
So it looks like odds are we’ll get a mixed-gender tag team match at Mania, which is a perfect attraction type of match to debut Ronda in the ring.
