6 Ups And 6 Downs For WWE Day 1
1. Setting Up A Future Collision?
Day 1’s main event delivered a true first: the first time Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar shared the ring for a match. They’ve never even been in the same Royal Rumble match, forget at the same time.
Fans have wanted to see this collision between two bruising superstars ever since Lashley came into his own last year and became something of a “made man” in WWE. A match between the two powerhouses would be something to behold. And then on Saturday, we got it, albeit in a five-way match.
Lesnar and Lashley didn’t interact much during the 8-plus minute match. Lashley speared Brock through the barricade, but then both men were put down by Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens. As the match wound down, Lashley speared Lesnar and put him in the Hurt Lock, but Big E saved. And that was it for their confrontation during the match.
So, now that Lesnar has the WWE Championship, wouldn’t it make sense for Lashley to go full bore after it? And wouldn’t that make for one hell of a clash at say, WrestleMania 38? You can almost see the All Mighty entering and winning the Rumble to challenge Brock at Mania, and that would be a true money match between two bulls.
