6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 25)

2. What Everyone Else Was Thinking

Lashley Roman Reigns

Whoever decided to make Bobby Lashley the vocalization of what most fans are thinking is a genius and hero to this column.

Lashley has morphed from verbal punching bag for Sami Zayn to speaking truth-to-power about Roman Reigns. The two sparred to open Raw, jawing about who should face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Lashley wasted little time in telling Reigns that he’s had his chances for three years and has failed every time, so it’s time to move on.

Bobby suggested that Brock, who ducked out of a challenge due to “a contractual snag,” was evading because he’s tired of seeing Roman’s face, “just like all of these people.” And then the crowd cheered. Ouch.

It’s a bit meta for WWE to dial in like this, especially in admitting the ugly truth about Reigns, but it’s definitely helping to get Lashley to connect with the audience quickly.
