6 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Backlash 2016
2. Another Loss For Wyatt
The Burning Questions preview column suggested that Bray Wyatt desperately needed to win a big match Sunday night, that he really needed to beat Randy Orton to get some momentum as a performer and halt the never-ending meander from one feud to another, losing a blow-off match and just coming back to deliver another cryptic promo on someone else.
And then Orton was unable to wrestle (or apparently never was able to wrestle but was booked in a feud with Wyatt anyway), so they found a suitable substitute in Kane in a no holds barred match. Kane lumbered through a passable match that was masked by steel chairs and a Wyatt senton through a table. But then, Orton appeared and delivered an RKO to help Kane secure the victory over Bray.
And just like that, Wyatt had lost another big match he probably should have won. Sure, WWE can play up that Bray injured Randy and this was his receipt, but it’s yet another loss for Wyatt when he needs to be a top villain on a thin roster. Orton could have exacted revenge after the bell and gotten a similar result.
As much as this might make sense on paper, it just feels like it was a dumb move.
