6 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Hell In A Cell 2017

3. Shane ‘Evel Knievel’ McMahon

We all knew when Shane McMahon was set to square off against Kevin Owens that it was going to result in a car crash, a series of stuntman-esque spots building to a big climax.

And while you’ll see some praise later on, that doesn’t mean we can’t be frustrated with the simple premise that a 47-year-old executive who had wrestled three matches in the past eight years went through all that punishment and still continued to fight on. Contrast that with two-time world champion Dolph Ziggler losing to a rollup with tights in the previous match or any other distraction finish we see week after week.

That simply is going to be a repeat complaint whenever McMahon wrestles. While he should be commended for his fearless attitude, it really suspends disbelief that he has given Undertaker, AJ Styles and now KO a run for their money. (No pun intended.)

If they operated from a position that Shane was outmatched and needed an equalizer of some sort to level the playing field, that would have worked better. But there’s an inherent belief in WWE that a McMahon is on equal footing with any talent.
