6 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Raw (July 6)

2. Eye For An Eye?

Wait, what?

So the stipulation for the Rey Mysterio/Seth Rollins match is literally “eye for an eye,” with Rey describing it as ripping Seth’s eye out of his socket. That’s like, a serious thing that happened on Monday night.

And it’s a stupid thing. Sure, we can talk about how it’s “gritty” and “real life” since Rollins tried to puncture Mysterio’s eye on the steel steps a while back, but you know there’s no way to deliver on this stipulation, so why make it in the first place? They’ll spend half the match going after each other’s eye… and the match will end when someone pokes the other with a screwdriver?

This just doesn’t sound good – or entertaining, for that matter. They could have put Rey’s mask or career on the line, or involved Dominik in some fashion. Hell, they could have done a blindfold match (since it’s taped, it could have been very interesting) to keep with the theme.

But ripping your opponent’s eye out of his socket? Even ECW never tried something like that.
