6 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Raw (June 13)

5. Ford Looks Good In Defeat

A singles battle between two tag team specialists might not seem like a high-quality affair, but Jimmy Uso and Montez Ford held it down Monday night.

The two battled back and forth, with the veteran Uso maintaining control and injuring Ford’s back, which kept slowing the high-octane superstar down. Ford, however, showed resilience as he fought in only his fourth televised singles match in the past year. In the end, Montez nailed an incredible leaping hurricanrana on Jimmy, but his frogsplash hit knees, and Uso rolled Ford up for the pin.

Several have pegged Ford for singles superstardom in the future, but Tez’s stock is currently in a tag team. Still, seeing him fight like this against a veteran and coming just short shows he’s got something here, and it might signal that WWE is aware of this as well.

We might see Ford get a signature singles win at some point in the near future.
