6. ‘A Former WWE Champion’

Look, we get that reminding us that someone is a former champion is supposed to lend credence to them, and make it more impressive if and when someone beats them.

But in the case of Jinder Mahal, it might be better if we all just try to forget it, OK? Mahal’s title reign was a dismal failure, an embarrassment that went on way longer than it ever needed to. So when Mahal battled Ricochet Monday night, of course the announcers reminded us at least twice (possibly three times) that Jinder is a former WWE Champion – as if that was magically going to make him more competitive or dangerous.

And Mahal still fell to a Ricochet flurry, and really all that was damaged was the WWE Championship, as we were repeatedly reminded that Mahal the jobber once held the title.
