6 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Feb 2)

1. Stunt Double No More

On its face, taking away the one thing that made Damien Mizdow a fan-favorite would seem like the stupidest move WWE could make. However, it might turn out to be a brilliant turn in the ongoing saga of the Miz and his former stunt double. For months, Mizdow has been mimicking Miz from the ring apron and the floor, a gimmick that has led fans to chant and cheer crazily for Damien while booing Miz. The contrast has led Miz to lose his patience with his stunt double, and things finally boiled over Monday when Miz €œfired€ Mizdow, only to rehire him as his personal assistant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBXtsN2Bmxo The title change added an interesting twist to the dynamic between the two. Mizdow no longer can copy Miz€™s actions €“ or face Miz€™s wrath. This led to Miz yelling at Damien multiple times and becoming even more incensed. Just as the stunt double gimmick looked like it had reached the end of its shelf life, WWE found a way to inject life back into the angle and advance it. Now, Mizdow has the ability to show his own personality again and can begin to stand up for himself a little €“ Monday€™s mini-act of defiance by removing his sunglasses was the first salvo. If WWE can resist the inclination to mess it up, this could be a really good breakup. Maybe not the Rockers-level good, but certainly better than the Primetime Players.
