On Sunday, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins will finally lock up in their one-on-one match, and it will be exactly the kind of match that should take place inside Hell in a Cell a deeply personal feud that has been building to an ultimate conflict, something that can only be contained in the confines of the cell. The two former teammates have been bitter rivals for several months, projecting pure hatred for one another but unable to resolve their conflict. When Hell in a Cell debuted as a special gimmick match in 1997, it was intended to be used for these intense rivalries that had crested and needed to come crashing to a conclusion. Look at some of the pre-Hell in a Cell PPV matches: Shawn Michaels/Undertaker, Undertaker/Mankind, Triple H/Cactus Jack, Brock Lesnar/Undertaker, Triple H/Batista, Triple H/Shawn Michaels and Undertaker/Edge. These were major feuds that had been simmering for some time and finally boiled over in vicious Hell in a Cell matches to determine who truly was the better man. Today, WWE has an annual PPV where the Hell in a Cell structure is used as a prop in at least one, typically two (and sometimes three) matches. Unlike the earlier cell matches, where the feud built up until use of the cell was warranted, WWE takes whatever feuds are happening heading into October and shoehorns them into a cell match. Since the inception of Hell in a Cell in 1997, there have been plenty of outstanding rivalries and feuds that would have been tremendous matches inside the cell. Heres a look at six of them...
