Orton ascended to the top of the card faster than any of those before him when he earned - along with his maiden world title - the distinction of being WWE's youngest ever heavyweight champion (a record that still stands today) after getting the better of Chris Benoit in the headline match of SummerSlam 2004.
Many critics would go on to suggest that it was too much too soon for a man who had only been a permanent fixture on the main roster for a little over a year - and, given the damp squib of a title reign that followed, you can kind of understand where they were coming from. Take nothing away from this moment though: Orton became a legit main eventer, at a time when fresh main eventers were something of a rarity.
