If 2011 was dubbed the 'Summer Of Punk', then 2015's sunnier months should be called the 'Summer Of Owens'. Emerging from a stellar bank of work on NXT programming, Kevin Owens joined the main roster and emphatically made a statement at the expense of John Cena.

At Elimination Chamber in May, KO defeated Cena. The veteran notched a win of his own at Money In The Bank a month later, meaning both guys had to settle their issues at Battleground in July. Cena was booked to win, which frustrated some on social media at the time, but the result didn't really matter when Owens looked so utterly excellent.

To date, there hasn't been a better-worked match on a Battleground card than Cena vs. Owens from the 2015 event. Owens was in his element as a brash heel, strong enough that the usual sideshow of boos for Cena could be ignored.

Despite losing the series of matches 2-1, Owens was made on the main roster by virtue of his performances against Cena.
