7 Cool Things About WWE Survivor Series 1990 (Not Named The Undertaker)

4. The First Surviving Team

Though the Survivor Series event had taken place since 1987, there had never been an entire team that made it through the event unscathed. That is, until 1990. The team known as The Visionaries included captain "The Model" Rick Martel, and three men managed by "The Doctor of Style" Slick: The Warlord, and the tag team of Power & Glory (Hercules and Paul Roma). The team name was a pun directed towards Jake Roberts which will be covered later in this article, but this grouping would make Survivor Series history by being victorious without losing a single man. Who were the unlucky quartet that opposed this team? The team was known as The Vipers and it might come as a surprise to see some of the legendary names that comprised the losing team. The captain was Jake "The Snake" Roberts and his partners were tag team specialists The Rockers, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty, and "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka. With three future Hall of Famers on the team, one might expect The Vipers to have been victorious, but in 1990, it was The Visionaries that prevailed. Jannetty would be pinned by The Warlord first, followed by Martel pinning Snuka. Shawn Michaels would fall victim to the awesome Powerplex finish of Power & Glory, and Jake would be counted out chasing after Martel, whom was not the legal man. Though today it is very difficult to find something that hasn't been done before in wrestling, it was always a special feeling when an event would feature something that made history. The Visionaries surviving as a whole team did just that in November of 1990.
