The Best There Is. The Best There Was. The Best There Ever Will Be.

This is not just the character that Bret Hart portrayed on WWE TV, but it also held true for the man in real life too. Bret comes from the famed Hart Dungeon, run by his father Stu Hart. The Dungeon held a reputation for training some of the best in-ring workers that professional wrestling has ever seen, with graduates include wrestlers like Owen Hart, Chris Benoit, and Chris Jericho.

However, this lineage is said to have gotten to Bret's head. Multiple wrestlers such as Scott Hall, Bill Simmons and Lance Storm have all criticized Bret for being too proud of himself. Scott Hall has gone on record saying that Bret Hart treats his house like a shrine devoted to him. It's full of pictures of the Hitman in his gear, and every single room has a picture of Bret. Hall, along with Bill Simmons has called Bret 'a mark for himself'. Lance Storm has also said that Bret took himself too seriously and was extremely prideful of himself. Bret Hart represented the sin of pride, and he did it to a tee.
