4. Greed: The Ultimate Warrior

The late Jim Hellwig captivated the entire world as a charismatic hero who would overcome every obstacle put in his way. He was earmarked as Hulk Hogan's replacement in 1990, beating the perennial champ to stand top of the mountain at WrestleMania VI. However, within a year and a half, Warrior had left the company.

Warrior became acutely aware of his worth to the company. The day of SummerSlam 1991 is a reflection of this. Conflicting stories have come up about that ill-fated night in New York, but the most commonly believed story says that Warrior refused to wrestle unless he was paid $500,000 for his performance at WrestleMania VII in April. He wanted to be paid an equal sum to Hulk Hogan on the basis that he was just as big a draw. He held Vince McMahon up for the WrestleMania sum and a reported $100,000 for SummerSlam '91, but was instantly suspended after the show, having been appeased just so he didn't miss the date.

Warrior's greed led to his relations with WWE to be severed for over 20 years, and the company even released a DVD burying him for it.
