7 Early Contenders For WWE Money In The Bank 2016 Briefcase

7. Stardust

Quietly enough, the man once known as Cody Rhodes has been putting on some stellar in-ring performances and developing a character that has far exceeded expectations. Stardust's work in getting over what could've been a nothing match with Arrow's Stephen Amell at SummerSlam has been rewarded with Stardust being given The Ascension to add to his already unique act. Could the Money In The Bank briefcase be next in 2016? That's entirely likely. The idea of Stardust and The Ascension being entered into the Royal Rumble and wreaking havoc alongside Bray Wyatt, Brawn Strowman and Luke Harper could set up a unique moment wherein Stardust could turn himself babyface by having an entertaining interaction with Bray Wyatt. Actually, if you build out of the Rumble into The Wyatt Family wrestling the Cosmic Trio at WrestleMania and have Stardust get the surprise win, and a victory in a rubber match at Extreme Rules over Wyatt, then the idea of Stardus grabbing the briefcase as a babyface makes sense. Stardust is Dusty Rhodes' son as well, and the idea of Cody going after the gold that his daddy couldn't win would be something amazing to see. This may sound far-fetched, but honestly, Stardust is on fire, and all it would take is a couple of deft booking decisions to put the final touches on making a surprising and fresh main event star.
