7 Fastest Downfalls From WWE Champions
2. Jinder Mahal (2018)
Eyebrows were raised when WWE crowned lowly Jinder Mahal the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Backlash 2017. This was the guy who was best-known for being the third wheel in his rock band stable (3MB) and, more recently, losing every match in sight or following Rusev around.
Suddenly, Mahal was the main man on SmackDown, and fans had a hard time adjusting.
When the experiment ended at the hands of AJ Styles on 7 November, so did Jinder's push. Once he lost his routine rematch at Clash Of Champions in December, Mahal was shunted down the pecking order and placed in the busy United States Title hunt. WWE's message was clearly that they've moved on from 'The Modern-Day Maharaja'.
Aside from a few glimmers here and there, including a short feud with Roman Reigns, Jinder has reverted to his old position of star-enhancing jobber. If that sounds harsh, then so was the decline. For all his hard work, Mahal will forever be regarded as one of the worst WWE Champs of all time by fans.
