Similar to Sami Zayn, Bayley's character in NXT benefited from being an underdog, so it was never necessary for her to be a champion in order to remain popular with fans. In fact, it wasn't until two and a half years into her tenure in developmental that she captured the NXT Women's Championship at TakeOver: Brooklyn. And when she finally did, it resulted in one of the most monumental moments and greatest women's matches in recent wrestling history.

Bayley had a great reign as champ over the next eight months, but she has always been much more compelling in chase mode. That said, it was a mystery why she immediately entered the title picture upon arriving on Raw following SummerSlam. Obviously, Raw has a real lack of depth in their women's division, but Bayley should not have been challenging for the championship so early into her run.

Thankfully, she fell short of winning the Raw Women's Championship at Clash of Champions, and now that Sasha Banks is back in possession of the title, a match pitting the two former foes against each other at WrestleMania 33 seems likely. It should be there that Bayley wins her premiere title on the main roster.
