Bad news is what it means.

With Brock’s UFC 200 fight taking place in Las Vegas, that means it’s under the jurisdiction of the Nevada State Athletic Commission—and the Nevada State Athletic Commission do not take these things lightly.

Bob Bennett, executive officer of the Nevada commission, said that they can both “fine and suspend” Lesnar off the back of this. And not only that, but the fine isn’t necessarily a fixed fee; per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, for a first offense in Nevada, the guideline is to fine 50-75% of the fighter’s purse.

With Lesnar raking in an unprecedented $2.5 million guaranteed purse, by my calculations that puts a fine somewhere in the astronomical region of $1.25 million to $1.875 million—and that’s not even including any additional pay-per-view bonuses.

Regarding a suspension, Brock could be forced to spend up to two years on the side lines under Nevada rules—though admittedly it may end up being less than that.

We all know that Brock’s all about the bottom line, though, so it’s the news of a probable fine that’s likely to be hitting him hardest.
