7 Match Star Ratings For WWE TLC 2020
4. The New Day Vs. The Hurt Business - RAW Tag Team Title Match
The New Day Vs. The Hurt Business already feels like a feud that began in February, and as so often happens, all four men were given the Sisyphean task of making the mundane and over-familiar feel like a worthy PPV special. This was a pretty damn good match that contrived to do it.
There's a problem, because there always is.
In WWE, it's almost better to be an aspirational singles wrestler in a tag team than a tag team specialist who gets on with your mate, a fellow tag team specialist. That the heels who didn't get along defeated the babyfaces clean didn't help, but they're the New Day, they'll be reet, and it's all on a curve, isn't it?
The finishing sequence was great. Cedric blind-tagged in, but in a neat twist sold by Kofi with a teetering drama, he lulled Alexander into the double-team, rolled off Benjamin's shoulders, stomped him, and nailed Alexander with an S.O.S. for a cracking near-fall.
The two teams got in their own way slightly to arrive at the spot that took Xavier Woods out, but the finish was done well; Shelton took an age to set up Paydirt, so Cedric tagged in and hit the Lumbar Check to win the gold and further the idea that Shelton isn't clinical enough, or something. Whether that gets resolved satisfactorily is what it is. Nicely-worked and dramatic match, though.
Imagine if it was built as something you had to see and wasn't contested for a belt that was swapped around to match the colour scheme of the brand.
