7 Mistakes WWE Will Probably Make With The Draft This Week

2. ...And Dean Ambrose Is Completely Screwed

Actually, a correction - it's Dean Ambrose who should feasibly be the #1 overall pick in the draft, because he's currently the WWE Champion. While that could (and likely will) change next week at Battleground, "The Lunatic Fringe" will retain his title in the Seth Rollins match on Raw, and head into Smackdown as champ.

Ambrose has been the odd man out since The Shield split up - he's been Roman Reigns's sidekick, Seth Rollins's victim, and the unpredictable midcarder who's managed to stay popular despite being treated like a joke by the booking team. Now, improbably, Ambrose is WWE Champion. It could be a turning point for him.

Unfortunately, that just doesn't seem likely. WWE Champion or not, Ambrose is clearly not as high a priority for WWE as Reigns and Rollins are, and he's only carrying the title right now because of Reigns's suspension. With Reigns and Rollins believed to be Raw's top face and heel, and Cena and Styles expected to hold the position on Smackdown, Ambrose is out in the cold.

Ultimately, he could be selected as high as fourth overall, but even that spot will be an embarrassment to him, and to the WWE title.
