4. Vince McMahon Is Insane...

On this week's SmackDown, we were witness to the best and worst of Vince McMahon.

He bragged about the extent to which his 47-year-old son beat his former Universal Champion's a**, and threw in a fat joke for good measure. Still, a cutting "when you look in the mirror, how do you have any respect at all?" is at least a stab at subtext, as opposed to having John Cena refer to him as the "Michelin Man". The insanity of the angle was foreshadowed when Vince claimed never to have lost a single battle in court, which we know is patently false. Every time Kurt Angle strains to correctly recite the letters 'WWE' (or Double Doublee), we are reminded that McMahon can get the F out with that blatant untruth.

He also, in the most idiotic, mental spot of the year, allowed - nay, encouraged - Kevin Owens to drill into his skull with a full-force headbutt. This was the best of McMahon, dubious as that is. He put himself in stupid danger to put Owens over as a beast. Stupid is the word, especially when one considers the sad fate of Katsuyori Shibata and the career-ending subdural haematoma suffered in the exact same spot earlier this year. But Vince doesn't watch Japanese or any other wrestling, so ignorance is bliss. After a dubious start, the angle turned out exceptionally well in the end.

Unfortunately, wrestling is a cyclical business...
