7 Most Shocking WWE Superstar Releases Of 2017

3. Emma

In some ways, there was a whiff of inevitability about Emma's WWE departure. It's just that seemed far more likely that the talented Australian, frustrated with her lack of opportunities on the main roster, would decide to leave the company of her own accord.

Instead, it was the board who apparently reached the conclusion that she no longer warranted a spot on the payroll because of her inability to get over with the crowd - which was hardly surpising given the infamous "Emmalina" debacle, coupled with the fact that she was once demoted from the main roster and then brought back up again.

What made this particularly shocking was the fact that Emma's release was announced just a week after she went 10 minutes in the ring with Asuka at Tables, Ladders & Chairs. To the layman, it seems baffling to make someone you're about to throw on the scrapheap look good against arguably the biggest star of the whole female division.

In the end, though, none of that really matters. The real story here is of a half-decent worker who was simply never given the opportunity to prove her worth, and that's just really, really sad.
