5. Did Sheamus & Cesaro "Break" Matt Hardy?

Even before the moment they returned at WrestleMania 33 fans were already fantasy booking "Broken" Matt Hardy in WWE. A legal dispute with Anthem and Impact Wrestling has muddied the waters on whether or not that's even possible, but recent reports have stated that both Matt and the WWE brass want to use the persona, they're just ironing out the details.

There was little doubt that we'd see The Hardy Boys in their original personas, at least in the beginning, if for no other reason than because everyone loves a taste of nostalgia. What no one should want is to see Matt and Jeff end up like The Dudley Boyz in their last run with the organization.

The eldest Hardy has already began hinting on Twitter that he would be reverting to the gimmick which turned him into the most talked about non-WWE performer in the industry. When on TV he commonly displays recognizable mannerisms that show he's struggling to keep that side of him buried beneath the surface.

Was Payback that green light we've all been waiting for?

At the end of their successful title defense against Sheamus and Cesaro, the challengers went the respect route before returning to the ring during the champs' celebratory posing and laying a beatdown on them. Matt in particular was the object of their assault; as the segment ended he was left lying in the ring bleeding from his head.

Will this be the moment that causes Matt Hardy to "break"? If not then it's little more than a cruel tease, but I have faith in WWE on this one. They know the crowd is yearning for Broken Matt, and if this is how they get us there that'd be absolutely DELIGHTFUL.
