3. 11/11/87 - Bret Hart vs. Randy Savage (WWF @ Seattle)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z976fLWo3lc How Can I Watch It: The Best of Saturday Nights Main Event (DVD) Considered by many to be the match that made Vince McMahon see Bret Hart in a new light as a future singles star in the WWF, this Saturday Nights Main Event battle between soon-to-be WWF Champion Savage and then-tag wrester Hart blew everyone away. Prior to this nobody had really seen what Hart could do in solo outings, aside from a couple of matches with Dynamite Kid and Ricky Steamboat in 1985 that he was mainly led through. This was different. Hart didn't simply hold his own against the Macho Man, he dominated the match. Viewers in 1987 were made to believe that this tag wrestler was actually going to beat the man everyone knew was the WWFs next bona fide megastar. It was a spectacular match, which makes it all the more astonishing that the only DVD treatment it has received comes on WWEs Best of Saturday Nights Main Event box-set, rather than any of the Randy Savage or Bret Hart DVD compilations. Equally mystifying is that it took McMahon nearly four more years to get over his hang-up about Harts relative lack of size and finally push him as a singles star.

James spent several years wrestling on the British independent circuit, but now prefers to write about the bumps and bruises rather than take any of them. His past in-ring experience does however give a uniquely more "insider" perspective on things, though he readily admits to still being a "mark" at heart.
