6. Lesnar Needs Momentum

So it seems strange to consistently talk about a championship match and focus on someone not involved in the bout, but the pro wrestling world in 2017 is arguably more focused on the future than the present when it comes to story. Every match needs to set up and compliment whatever is coming further down the line.

What is coming further down the line is the third meeting between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, but to be honest the average fan could be forgiven for questioning why that match is happening at all. Goldberg beat Lesnar 13 years ago at WrestleMania XX, he annihilated Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016 and he easily eliminated The Beast Incarnate from the Royal Rumble. What does Bill have left to prove?

At some point in this rivalry, Lesnar needs to get the upper hand in a way that doesn't involve Paul Heyman bashing Goldberg's parental status. The Conquerer can begin pushing back against Goldberg by costing him the match against Owens and ending Fastlane standing over his fallen rival.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
