1. Six Women's/Divas Title Reigns Are Second Most In WWE History
Titles in wrestling matter in the sense that they are a symbol of accomplishment within WWE. It means that somebody decided that the person holding that title is better than their peers for that specific period of time. It's a sign of respect in a business that is full of people trying to earn their respect. The woman with the most Women's Titles in WWE history is Trish Stratus, who won the title seven times. In second place is Mickie James with five title wins and when you add in her one reign as Divas Champion that gives her six. She's second only to Stratus and it doesn't look like any current divas are going to pass her any time soon. If titles are supposed to matter then how can you ignore the success of James? She became popular with the fans, had six reigns as the champion and even when she wasn't holding the title she was arguably the biggest face among the divas in the mid to late 2000s. There would have been a big void in WWE when Stratus retired in 2006 if not for the presence of James. She stepped right in there as the next top babyface diva and stayed it that role until her 2010 release. It's a shame that she was released, but that's just how the business is sometimes. It shouldn't tarnish what she accomplished in her career. On a personal note, even though Mickie is a good friend of mine this wasn't something that I wrote as a way to suck up to her. It was written because as a fan of the wrestling business she clearly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame one day. It would be fine if it happened further down the road because at 34 years old she'd be the youngest Hall of Famer ever. That would be cool to witness, but she's not done yet either. Whether it's this year or in the future, Mickie James is definitely worthy of Hall of Fame consideration. We'll find out early in 2015 when WWE starts to release names of who will make it in.
