7 Record Book Changes That Happened At WWE Royal Rumble 2016
3. Consecutive Final Fours
Its fair to say that when it comes to the Royal Rumble, success sometimes comes in bunches. In the 29 years the Rumble has taken place, 23 different men have won the annual event. Three wrestlers have won the event in back-to-back years (all in the 90s), but perhaps one of the best indicators of repeated success is seeing how many Final Fours a superstar reaches. Sunday, Roman Reigns set a new record regarding Royal Rumble Final Fours and tied another one. Reigns became the fifth man to be one of the last four men in three straight Rumbles, finishing second in 2014, winning in 2015 and finishing third this year. The other four men are Hulk Hogan (won in 1990-91, third in 1992), Shawn Michaels (third in 1994, won in 1995-96), Steve Austin (won in 1997-98, second in 1999) and Sheamus (won 2012, third in 2013, third in 2014). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZzI0T7O-xY Reigns also became the first wrestler to finish in the Final Four in his first three straight Rumbles, something not even Hogan, Austin or Michaels accomplished. And who knows? Maybe Roman can enter a category unto himself with another strong performance in 2017.
