It was not something talked about publically because she tried to distance herself from the company. That's because her opponents would point out questionable WWE things, so WWE avoided it by never mentioning the business where she made her money. Remember when Abraham Washington got fired from WWE partly because he did a tweet about Linda McMahon's political run? That's because WWE doesn't want anybody talking about it. It wasn't just because of his "Kobe Bryant in Colorado" joke. That was a reference from something that was a decade ago. Mentioning anything about Linda McMahon's political campaign was a big no-no.
