So it's safe to say Seth Rollins has had an absolute whopper of a run as Intercontinental Champion, and it's only been a few weeks. From standout performances with both The Miz and Finn Balor, as well as overall improved promos, he's restored the title to a respectability not seen in a long times (yes, yes, Miz is a great talker, but the IC title was more a prop with him).

However, if Seth is to graduate from the midcard, he needs to pass the IC torch to an up-and-comer who will utilize it well, and serve as a potential opponent down the line when Seth finally gains the Universal title. A shortlist of names includes the likes of Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and, of course, his former tag partner Jason Jordan. Seth can naturally have a great match with any of them, and they could all ascend to main event status to feud with Seth as Universal Champion. Heck, KO never got his proper rematch for the Universal title.

Point is: whoever Seth loses the IC title to, the long game should be kept in mind.
