7 Superstars Whose Gimmicks Started As WWE Fans

6. Eugene

WWE.comWWE.comWhen Eugene debuted in WWE on the April 5 he didn't start out as a wrestler. Instead, he was the unique nephew of Raw GM Eric Bischoff. Eugene was a "special" kind of guy, which means he was slow and not really normal like most people. Eugene did a lot of awkward things all the time. It was funny. The fans liked him. He was assigned to William Regal by Bischoff and slowly he learned how to wrestle too. Eugene had this ability where he was the nicest guy out there, but then when the bell rang he could pull off some sweet wrestling moves that amazed people. The character was pushed down our throats too quickly. He was signed in April and within four months he was in a major match with Triple H at SummerSlam. It wasn't even a squash. It went about 15 minutes. Give credit to Nick Dinsmore for pulling off the character. He was a very skilled performer who made this performer work. Eugene started out as a fan, but then he became a WWE regular until the gimmick went as far as it could.
