7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 1992

1. It Is The Best Royal Rumble Match Ever

The 1992 Royal Rumble match is still the best Rumble match in WWE history. It was built up perfectly by WWE by loading the match with so much talent. Throw in the fact that the winner got the WWE Title and it made it that much more special. It's a match that I loved so much that I even wrote a feature about it. As mentioned previously, the performance of Ric Flair might have been the best ever in any Rumble match. It's still great after all these years. There was also Bobby Heenan on commentary freaking out for everything Flair did whether it was good or bad. Look at the final four in the match: Savage, Hogan, Sid and Flair. While Sid isn't one of the best wrestlers ever, the other three are probably in any top ten list by most people that watched wrestling during that period. It doesn't get much better than that. Remember the 1991 Rumble when Earthquake and Brian Knobbs were in the final three with Hogan? This one was way better. There was a great mix of veterans and younger guys. Two of the younger guys were The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. They are two of the best wrestlers ever that also had incredible longevity. Think about 15 years later when they were the final two in the 2007 Rumble. That was a classic battle to end that match. The storylines in the match were very good with Savage going after Roberts due to Roberts tormenting Savage after his wedding to Miss Elizabeth. Savage eliminated Roberts, then actually jumped over the top to the floor to go after him, but wasn't eliminated since he was still in the match. There were also the issues between Hogan and Undertaker that weren't resolved. From start to finish, this match was very entertaining. It went 1:02:02 in length, yet it didn't feel too long at all. Due to Flair lasting for the majority of it and so many other talented guys getting a shot in the match, it was the best Rumble match ever.
